More Mini Dungeon

A few more Mini Dungeon Adventures minis!

Mini dungeon Adventures

So I like papercraft and I like gaming.  When you combine the two, wonderful things can happen.  So, while surfing the interwebs, I came across this little gem called Mini Dungeon Adventures by Jim Bowen.  It's like a dungeon crawl game, but really tiny and FREE!  I promptly downloaded it, printed it, and began working on assembly.

Man, these things are tiny!  The dwarf (or dorf as in game) is smaller than a Lego guy head!  All in all great fun to put together.  I can't wait to play!  The rules look simple and hearken back to the days of Warhammer Quest/ A D&D!  There is also an expansion available, along with pretty decent community support.  In addition, there are other minis to download and print. There is even a gelatinous cube mini! The first two I assembled were the wizard and the dwarf.  Personally, I think they are kind of cute.

Enjoy some pics!

IDW? Really?

I'm a DC comics guy. Sure, I like an occasional Marvel title, but my real love is of DC heroes. (Even though The Green Hornet is one off my independent favorites.

So when I heard about IDW's Backt to the Future comic, I figured I would try it with a little trepidation. Gotta say I loved it! One of the creators from the film Bob Gale writes for it, an the art is quirky. I can hear Christopher Lloyd and Michael J. Fox in my head as I read it! It answers questions I didn't know I had about BTTF. For instasncr how did Marty and Doc meet? Didn't his parents ever wonder what happened to Calvin "Marty" Klein? Etc...
So I decided after reading 11 issues in one sitting to check out some other IDW titles. Up next, Ghostbusters!

Again, a great book! An awesome throwback to my favorite paranormal experts of the 80's! Great art, good storyline, and great layout! So what else did IDW have to offer?

Enter Mars Attacks! Occupation.

Takes place several years after the movie and I loved the wacky, camp factor of the movie and trading cards. Is time the Martians have conquered earth. And once again IDW has me hooked. Great art storyline and layout. Visually very pleasing.  Lots of unique camera angles. So what else is a guy like me to do when I find out its only a short 5 issue series? Find another title that has some staying power.

So far so good. A classic at has been updated in a good way. All in all, great art and story. Though, I am not very far into it yet, I love it so far.

Green Lanterns #004 Review

So I am trying to still get caught up on my reading.  Today we look at Green Lanterns #4.  I am not sure what I think about the buddy cop mix matched pair 80's movie plot line.  But the action is good, and the whole Red Lanterns bad guy thing is pretty awesome.  Artwork 9/10 again, I love how they draw the ring's power.  Characterizations 7/10 I am still out on Jessica something tells me even though she is a big time rookie with no willpower, she will turn out to be pretty sweet.  Layout 5/10 standard.  Some good splash pages.  Story 8/10  I am still interested to see where it is going so that counts for a lot.

Overall score... Man-e-Faces on the He-man 80's Cartoon Scale.

Superwoman #1 review

Superwoman #1!

A lot of meat packed into us issue! Overall very good art, story and such. But, the thing that stood out for me was the layout design. Beautiful framing, an awesome two page piece. All in all highly suggest picking this one up kids!

Beyond the He Man scale! This rates a solid 9/10!

Batman 003 spoiler free review

Batman!  This was a great issue.  OK, not great, but I have a hard time not liking the new Batman.  The story did seem to drag a bit here and there, but we needed some background info, so not bad over all.  Artwork was good.  It reminds me of the Batman of the 90's the one I really liked and made me like comic books.

Overall score would have been better with less background and more action.  But, hey a B- is still passing!

Man-at-Arms on the He-man 80's cartoon scale!

Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps Rebirth Review

I love Green Lantern.  And Hal Jordan is probably one of, if not THE best GL in my opinion.  I loved this book.  The artwork is great, the storyline is awesome.  Really taking the Corps back to its roots. Only problem was, there wasn't much corps at all, unfortunately I fear this may be an on-going thing for a while.  Part of the reason I like to see different Lanterns, is how they choose to cast their constructs and the differences between each lantern is the different personalities and such.  That being said, I LOVE the way the constructs are drawn and the organic style the ring's power has.

I give this a solid Teela on the He-man 80's cartoon scale!

Bat-papercraft. Get out your Bat-Scissors!

I am loving these Cubeecraft templates!  Fun and easy to put together.  Tons are available!  Here we have the Dynamic Duo circa 1966!

TITANS Rebirth spoiler free review

So, this story was written by an acquaintance of mine, Dan Abnett.  Overall story and art work was good. It pretty much was what I expected from the Rebirth story and I loved the characterizations of the Titans.  I thought the artwork was spot on.  I loved the use of shadow and the gritty feel.

All in all I give it a Man-at-Arms on the 80's He-Man cartoon scale.
